Active contour model using mathematical morphology
Proc. 26th Joint Conference on Image Technology, 183-186 (Steering Committee of the 26th Joint Conference on Image Technology, Tokyo, 1995) [in Japanese].

The Active Contour Models (Snakes) conventionally make a contour converge to the edge of an object by shirinking the conoutr line surrounding the object. In this paper, we proprse a novel method using the "Contour Object," which is defined as an object that contains both the contour line and its interior. The Contour Object is manipulated using the mathematical morphology operations. It is very simple to expand, shrink, separate, combine the contour by our method.
