Abstract

This paper proposes three approaches of image characterization using the pattern spectrum (PS) and MOCS, which are mathematical morphological methods to describe size distributions of figures contained by an image.These approaches are based on the idea that extracting characteristics of images by optimizing the structuring element for PS or segmentation of texture images, following the information described by PS and MOCS.
